Seicento Baroque Ensemble’s “Embellish!” workshops and performances Feb. 29-March 2 will trace the vital role of improvisation and ornamentation as it developed in the 17th century and persists in today’s jazz music.

Baroque and Jazz meld in this FREE innovative workshop for musicians and non-musicians alike as you learn the importance of improvisation.

Led by an early musical scholar (and improv expert) Dr. Tina Chancey and Seicento Baroque Ensemble Artistic Director Evanne Browne, this hourlong improvisation workshop for all ages uses music as a training tool but is aimed at musicians and nonmusicians alike. All that’s required is an interest in how improvisation can help improve mental reflexes, memory, concentration, observation, and creativity while encouraging spontaneity. Musical ability is not a prerequisite, but curiosity is.

Cost: Free and open to the public, but advance registration is appreciated – just click on the “Reserve a Spot” button. No need to print a ticket – just come on in on the day of the workshop.
