Celebrated trombonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and recording artist Wycliffe Gordon and pianist Tamir Hendelman have put together a special program of recorded duos and live duos and solos for this special evening. They will join each other live to introduce the songs and perform socially distanced duos from LA and Atlanta.
Wycliffe Gordon and Tamir Hendelman have performed at festivals in Aspen, Vail, Newport Beach and more. And, has recorded with Wynton Marsalis, was a member of Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and performed with the likes of Paul Simon, Tommy Flanagan, Dizzy Gillespie, Branford Marsalis and more.
Wycliffe Gordon is known for his multi talented musicality. The award winning trombonist and multi instrumentalist is a commissioned composer and 8-time winner of the Jazz Journalists Association Award for Trombonist of the Year. He has been a featured guest artist on Billy Taylor’s “Jazz at The Kennedy Center” series, and is a former member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet. His performance experience includes work with Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Tommy Flanagan, Shirley Horn, Joe Henderson, Eric Reed, Randy Sandke and Branford Marsalis. He has released 17 solo and eight co-leader CDs. Wycliffe is a founding faculty member of the Jazz Studies Program at The Juilliard School.
Pianist/composer Tamir Hendelman is a long-time member of the Jeff Hamilton Trio and Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. Known for his imaginative arranging and dynamic, lyrical playing,
he has appeared or recorded with Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand, Roberta Gambarini, Houston Person, Graham Dechter, Tierney Sutton, Richard Galliano, Claudio Roditi, Scott Hamilton and Sean Jones. Since spring 2020, he has performed a series of Saturday evening streamed music sets from LA: Tamir at Home.
