Our final New Music Monday edition of August goes organic as the 2 leading debut CDs feature the B3 organ!

We’ll premiere the latest by Akiko (Tsuruga) who once again will be playing next weekend at the 20th Annual Vail Jazz Party!  Her newest is titled Commencement as she continues her burgeoning career by dropping her surname and just using her first name,  either way she still plays a mean B3. She is accompanied by John Hart-guitar and Jeff Hamilton-drums who will also be part of the spectacular Labor Day Weekend in Vail.

Our other organ spotlight will fall on saxophonist Paul Carr whose new recording is titled B3 Sessions: (DC-NY). The songs recorded in Washington DC feature the veteran Bobby Floyd on the B3 and the NY songs feature former Denverite, Pat Bianchi. In addition to some swingin’ organ sounds we’ll have the new one by trombonist Michael Dease-Relentless, a big band outing with Denver’s own Greg Gisbert on trumpet and yet another musician appearing at Vail, Wycliffe Gordon on the trombone and vocals. Also on the bill will be the Mack Avenue Super Band, Live from the Detroit Jazz Festival, guitarist Mark Elf-Returns 2014, veteran saxophonist Ernie Watts, A Simple Truth and the Brazilian singer, Bebel Gilberto with Tudo.

All of that and more Mondays:Noon til 1pm, Rocky MTN Time hosted by Arturo Gómez.
