You  have a standing invitation to join us center stage Saturday evening, June 11, 8pm for our annual “Jazz in the Footlights,” our pre-Tony Awards special appreciating the songs and arrangements of cultural musical theater on Broadway. We’ll sample music from “The Color Purple,” “Shuffle Along” through its predecessor “Eubie” and from the most Tony nominated musical of all time, “Alexander Hamilton.”

“The beauty of KUVO/KVJZ is you get to explore the wealth of music being made, recorded, and played. African American themes in musical theater have been around for over 100 years,” indicates Adam Morgan host/producer for the special. “There are songs we know, sing some lyrics, snap our fingers to jazz covers and did not know the origin of those songs is musical theater,” he adds.  Curtain time is 8:00pm when the smooth jazz groove goes Broadway on “Jazz in the Footlights” on KUVO and KVJZ.
