With a uniquely intense and vigorous musical voice, Vincent Herring is considered one of the premier saxophonists of his generation.

At age 11, Vincent starting playing saxophone in his school’s band and studying privately at Dean Frederick’s School Of Music. He went on to play lead alto sax in West Point Band’s Jazz Knights and served a tour before stepping onto the New York jazz scene.

Vincent’s first performance tour took him all over Europe and the U.S. with Lionel Hampton’s big band in the early ’80s. Since then, Vincent has worked alongside many of the greats, including a nine year partnership with Nat Adderley as well as collaborations and recordings with Dizzy Gillespie, Cedar Walton, Freddi Hubbard, Louis Hayes, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, and many more.

Vincent has appeared in almost every major jazz festival worldwide, and has recorded 19 albums as a leader and can be heard on more than 200 as a sideman.

Currently on the faculty of William Patterson University, Vincent conducts master classes and jazz workshops at conservatories and universities around the world.
