Denver’s appetite for jazz is so big, we’ll put music anywhere! Denver International Airport is hosting a summer concert series on the concourse between South Security and the Hotel. The Sunday afternoon sessions are called “Jet Set Jamz,” and they’ve already “sold out” all the seats.

The Mary Louise Lee Band and the C2 Mass Choir open the series on July 30, followed by Gerald Albright and Same Cloth on August 6, Richard Elliot with Big Pocket Band on August 13, Dotsero and Conjunto Colores on August 20, SUCH with the Jacob Larson Band on August 27, and on September 3, After 7 with the Cass Clayton Band.  DJs at the sets include Big Styles, All Your Pal, Chonz, and Bella Scratch! New York is the site of a new museum dedicated to salsa music! NPR’s Shelby Hawkins reports on The International Salsa Museum, which already hosted a pop-up event at last summer’s International Salsa Congress.

They are planning to offer dance and live music programs, visual art inspired by the music, and a recording studio.

Organizers hope the permanent location is a decommissioned military facility called Kingsbridge Armory in The Bronx. After all, The Bronx has the nickname “El Condado de la Salsa,” or “the Borough of Salsa.” (SOURCE: NPR- SALSA MUSEUM)
