In celebration of the second year of the Jazz Odyssey Presents live music series, we are excited to invite you to our kick-off party at Denver’s hottest new venue, Orchid Denver.

The night features an all-star band in The Exotic Mysteries Quartet which boasts Derrick Hodge, Adam Deitch & Eric Benny Bloom of Lettuce, and Lamar Gaines of Gaines Brothers.

Derrick Hodge — Derrick Hodge is one of our moment’s most complete and complex musicians. A prolific composer, musical director, bandleader, producer bassist and advocate, Hodge has played on some of music’s most iconic albums, written & performed breakthrough orchestral arrangements and compositions, scored an impressive catalog of film and television work and created evocative sonic installations for prestigious cultural institutions, all alongside his work as an activist in the field of emerging young musicians. To date he has been awarded two Grammys, named a Sundance Composer Fellow, received the Motif Award; one of the Nation’s highest honors for Child Advocacy, and his playing on Common’s “BE” has been officially recognized as one of the top 20 basslines in Hip Hop History.

Adam Deitch — Adam Deitch is a Grammy-nominated American record producer and drummer based in Denver, Colorado. He is the drummer for the bands Lettuce, Break Science, and The Adam Deitch Quartet, and has worked in the hip-hop, funk, electro, pop, and jazz genres. He has collaborated with renowned artists like 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, John Scofield, and Ledisi. He was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album for writing and producing two songs on Ledisi’s album Turn Me Loose as part of the Fyre Dept. production team.[1] He was also nominated for the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Lettuce’s album Elevate. In 2014, Deitch started his own record label, Golden Wolf Records, through which he’s released music from his solo project (Adam Deitch) and The Adam Deitch Quartet (Adam Deitch – Drums // Wil Blades – Organ // Eric “Benny” Bloom – Trumpet // Ryan Zoidis – Saxophone). Deitch also co-founded Royal Family Records.
