Performing a brand-new composed Suite! Jonathan Powell’s Mambo Jazz Party is set to release its debut self-titled album on Circle 9 Records on August 9, 2024.

Artist BioJonathan Powell’s new group Mambo Jazz Party draws from his 20year freelance career as a trumpet player in the NYC salsa and Latin jazz scene. After being a member of Eddie Palmieri’s groups for 10 years as well as recording and performing with Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Miguel Zenon Big Band, Oscar Hernandez and Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ricky Martin, and Tito Puente Jr among many more, Jonathan’s love for the music runs deep.

The members of Mambo Jazz Party are some of the hottest in the genre worldwide including trombonist Jimmy Bosch (Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, FANIA All Stars), Grammy-nominated pianist Manuel Valera (Arturo Sandoval, Dafnis Prieto), flute player Itai Kriss (Televana, Los Hacheros, Orquesta Akokan), trombone player Ryan Eberle (Miguel Zenon, Maria Schneider), drummer Camilo Molina (Santana, Eddie Palmieri), conga player Marcos Torres (La India, Tito Nieves), bassist Alex Apolo Ayala (Eddie Palmieri, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Spanish Harlem Orchestra), saxophonist Remy LeBoeuf (Assembly of Shadows, Bob Mintzer Big Band) and Jonathan’s brother saxophonist Jeremy Powell (Eddie Palmieri, Arturo O’Farrill).

Jonathan Powell’s Mambo Jazz Party is set to release its debut self-titled album on Circle 9 Records on August 9, 2024. This performance and new work by Jonathan Powell and Mambo Jazz Party has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works program funded through the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
