Khabu Doug Young, guitarist, and composer, currently resides in Boulder CO after 20 years in New York City as an active musician and teaching artist.

Khabu teaches guitar, ukulele, and improvisation for all instruments. He has held numerous workshops and clinics throughout Europe and North America, in schools such as Arizona State University (Phoenix), Bennington College (VT), California State University (Hayward), Denver University (CO), HSPVA (Houston TX), SUNY (New Paltz), University of Arkansas (Fayetteville), University of California (Santa Cruz), University of Northern Colorado (Greeley), Williams College (MA), Wichita State University (KS). Mr. Young was commissioned by the Armour Foundation to compose new works for ukulele for two consecutive years. Most recently, he was awarded a second Pathways To Jazz grant through the Boulder County Arts Alliance. The first grant was for the album ‘Lubbock’ featuring Art Lande & Bruce Williamson, while the second upcoming release with the same personnel is titled ‘Oneirogenia’. He is currently an adjunct professor at Naropa University.

Born in Lubbock, TX, Khabu grew up in Houston and attended the High School For The Performing And Visual Arts (HSPVA). He studied at William Paterson College (Wayne, NJ) and at Naropa University (Boulder, CO). There he soon became an adjunct faculty member and formed The Russian Dragon Band with Art Lande. In 1996 he moved to New York City and began working with artists from all disciplines: theater, dance, spoken word, film, as well as musicians of many styles. His discography includes over 30 recordings.
