The feature film, “Icons Among Us, Jazz in the Present Tense,” explores the metamorphosis of jazz by showcasing the words, music, and spirit of the artists that are paving the way for an unprecedented musical revolution.

Films also include the jazz cartoon Betty Boop Meets Louis Armstrong in “I’ll be Glad When You’re Dead You Rascal You” and “The Three Bops, the 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf Go Bop n Swing.” Jazz performance clips from the mid-70s of Shirley Scott with Harold Vick, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers and Mongo Santamaria will also be shown. 

Following the film, a Q&A will be hosted by KUVO Music Director and Lunchtime at the Oasis host Arturo Gómez and Jazz on Film’s Matthew Goldwasser. Light refreshments and popcorn will be served.
