We’re excited to host the Annie Booth Trio with guest saxophonist Steve Treseler in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Thursday, April 6 – 7pm

Annie Booth and Steve Treseler first met while both attending the Jazz and Creative Music Program at the Banff Centre in 2011. The two are collaborating once again with appearances in Seattle, WA, and Denver, CO, as part of a project they call “The Snow Line Project,” featuring original music that celebrates the wondrous environments in which they create – The Pacific Northwest, The Colorado Rockies, and Banff.

Featuring: Steve Treseler, saxophone, Annie Booth, piano, Patrick McDevitt, bass, and Alejandro Castaño, drums

Steve Treseler is a Seattle-based saxophonist, teaching artist, and author. DownBeat calls his music “beautifully crafted ensemble pieces—whether free, through-composed, or somewhere in between.” The Kenny Wheeler Tribute Project, which Steve leads with renowned trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, was featured on NPR’s Jazz Night in America. Steve grew up in Edmonds, WA and began playing the clarinet in fifth grade band. He got serious about jazz in high school and performed up and down the West Coast with a youth “trad” jazz band. He has shared the stage with jazz greats Bill Frisell, Dave Douglas, Bob Brookmeyer, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, Jamie Cullum, Geoffrey Keezer, and Mike Stern.

Annie Booth, a native Denver, CO, is an award-winning pianist, composer and educator. After receiving her education at the University of Colorado-Boulder (BM in jazz studies) in 2011, she has established herself an active force on the Denver jazz scene as both a leader of her own group (the Annie Booth Trio) and as a busy sidewoman. Annie has performed internationally, most recently being a tour of Mexico with the Greg Gisbert Quartet in the summer of 2016 as part of the “New York Jazz All-Stars Series,” curated by Jazz At Lincoln Center. She has twice been named “Best in Denver” in the jazz genre by Denver’s Westword magazine in 2015 and 2016 and was featured as part of Jazz 89.3 KUVO’s “30-under-30” highlight in 2015. Her next album, Abundance, recorded live at Mighty Fine Productions in Denver, will be released in April 2017 under her forthcoming record label, AlphaBeta Records. Annie has been performing in her trio with Patrick McDevitt and Alejandro Castaño for over 8 years.
