In the new generation of blues artists, Shemekia Copeland has stepped up big time. Daughter of late Blues Hall of Fame guitarist Johnny Clyde Copeland, Shemekia got “the call” to sing the blues as a teenager. She toured with her father, and music writers have a great time finding adjectives for the diversity of her approach. It’s authentic, that’s for sure.

Multiple Grammy nominations, Blues awards, and eight CDs later, her voice is sought out across the rock, blues, country and soul genres. Her song selections and collaborations are across the board, but her sound is all her own. And she’s not shy about using music for social commentary either.

KUVO hosts Rodney Franks and Carlos Lando will present an exclusive broadcast engagement with Shemekia Copeland on the next “Live from Dazzle,” this Wednesday night, April 18 at 6 p.m., only on KUVO Jazz. Copeland will be in Denver for 2 nights of performances at Dazzle this Wednesday and Thursday.
