Denver-born Blues veteran Sam Mayfield started playing the blues early in the 1960s. Known for his gravelly voice, this multi-talented guitarist/ singer/ songwriter has performed with great blues luminaries such as Big Joe Turner and Big Mama Thorton. At Dazzle this weekend, Sam Mayfield and his band takes the stage May 19 at 5 p.m. for an early evening show.

In a conversation with Carlos Lando on The Morning Set, Sam Mayfield reminisces on the music scene through the years in Five Points, his years touring during his three-decade stint as the musical director for the legendary soul and gospel shouter Solomon Burke, and his upcoming performance at Dazzle.
