Today, the National Endowment for the Arts announced the four newest recipients of their lifetime honor, The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowships. The members of the 2019 class are: composer Maria Schneider, jazz historian Stanley Crouch, pianist Abdullah Ibrahim, and the late vocalist Bob Dorough.

Recipients are chosen based on their contributions to jazz. Becoming an NEA Jazz Master is the highest honor to receive in jazz. Congratulations to the class of 2019!
