Join us on the Jazz Odyssey on Monday, September 21, at 10 pm as we celebrate the 99th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest jazz drummers ever, Chico Hamilton.

From his beginnings in the 1950s west “cool jazz” scene, Foreststorn “Chico” Hamilton was always interested in the next thing in jazz music. His pioneering groups in the 60s and 70s were a springboard for groundbreaking artists such Eric Dolphy, Gabor Szabo, Larry Coryell, Charles Lloyd and Arthur Blythe.

In a career spanning over 50 years, Chico Hamilton and his music inspired DJs, remixers and dancers in addition to jazz fans and musicians.

We’re bringing you some of his best known tunes as well as some remixes, deep-cuts and later career highlights you might have missed. It’ll be a Chic evening you don’t want to miss, late night on KUVO Jazz with the Jazz Odyssey.
