Music Creators Camp Heads Toward their Second Season, Summer 2024

Some of the feedback from last summer’s Music Creators Camp held June 19-23 2023. During their inaugural season, over 20 young songwriters ages 13-16 spent a week learning about song creation, musical collaboration, and honed their skills on Digital Audio Workstations or DAWs. Due to the popularity and range in campers’ experience levels, they have extended the camp in order to two sessions to better fit the needs of the creators – June 10-14 & June 17-21. Camp is in session at North High School!

June 10-14 (9 am-3 pm): Beginner level: Students with little or no experience using Digital Audio Workstations such as Ableton, Pro Tools, Logic, or Soundtrap. No musical experience necessary.

June 17-21 (9 am-3 pm): Experienced level: Students with prior experience using Digital Audio Workstations. The camp will focus on the use of Ableton, but students with knowledge of the basic functions of any DAW are welcome. Formal music training is encouraged but not required.

Musician-educator Luke Wachter, the Associate Director for Educational Initiatives at The Newman Center for the Performing Arts, caught up with us on The Morning Set. We got to hear some of last year’s musical creations and got the details on the 2024 season ahead!
