Natalie Cressman and Ian Faquini blend their love of the Brazilian songbook, jazz, impressionism, and sophisti-pop songcraft into a unique and modern sound. Their music features lyrics in Brazilian-accented Portuguese, French, and English with tight two-part vocal harmonies accompanied by trombone and acoustic guitar. Their latest album “GUINGA”, released in April of this year, is a special tribute to Natalie and Ian’s mentor and friend, Brazilian guitarist and composer Guinga. The duo collaborated on each song with Guinga – some his compositions, others expanded upon by him.

Natalie Cressman and Ian Faquini are in Denver this weekend for a Friday night gig at Ophelias. I caught up with Natalie ahead of this show to dig into the new album and find out what they have on tap for their stop in Denver.
