“This week’s premiers include:

Teodross Avery, “Harlem Stories: The Music Of Thelonious Monk”
Teodross is a veteran saxophonist highly respected by his peers. He’s joined on his latest outing by pianist Anthony Wonsey, Bassist Corocran Holt with Willie Jones III and Marvin “Bugalu” Smith sharing drumming duties. This dynamite recording is on drummer Willie’s own WJ3 label.

Clifton Davis with the Beegie Adair Trio, “Never Can Say Goodbye”
Although best known as an actor, the lead on the 1970s sit-com, “That’s My Mama”, Clifton is an accomplished composer and singer. His most known song is “Never Can Say Goodbye” a pop hit by the Jackson Five that was subsequently recorded by others and several jazz musicians as well. Ms. Adair is a very accomplished pianist leading her trio in many a recording and touring around the world.

Immanuel Wilkins, “Omega”
Immanuel is am emerging alto saxophonist with a bright future. He debuts on Blue Note Records leading his quartet. Wilkins has his own sound yet he’s steeped in the tradition of the past jazz giants. As the song says, this debut will just be the start of something big!”

Every Monday beginning at Noon, I debut the latest arrivals to KUVO Jazz, often ahead of their regularly scheduled release date. In addition to the music, I’ll provide a few tidbits about the artist in particular if it’s a new or up and coming artist.
