Lynne Arriale Trio: “Being Human”
The highly acclaimed and respected pianist Lynne, winner of the Great American Jazz Pisano Composition has been entertaining audiences around the world for over 25 years. Her last several recordings have been about social issues near and dear to her. Arriale’s latest, her 17th, is a celebration of life. Instead of focusing on the turmoil and troubles facing the planet, she concentrates on the positive qualities humans share love, passion, courage, curiosity, joy, perseverance, and faith which serve as the titles of her playlist. Lynne Arriale on the piano is joined by bassist Alon Near and drummer Lukasz Zyta, 2 brilliant young players highly qualified to accompany the gifted Lynne.

Ruben Caban: “Kangana”
The Puerto Rican trombonist Ruben Caban has been performing in the backup bands to a wide array of artists around the world for over 15 years, including Dianne Schurr, Herbie Hancock, Paquito D’Rivera, Randy Brecker of jazz, The O’Jays, Frankie Valli, The Stylistics on the pop side plus an impressive list of salsa and Latin jazz artists as well. He is also a sought-after educator, having given clinics and lectures worldwide! He is currently teaching at several distinguished colleges in Florida. For his newest album, Ruben chose some of his favorite musicians from Florida to play the enticing jazz Latino of this album.

Jill McCarron Trio: “Gin”
Although born in Minneapolis, Jill was raised in Canada where she attended Toronto’s Humber College majoring in jazz performance. She began her professional career playing clubs in Toronto and Montreal garnering a following due to her swingin’ playing and stage presence. After being awarded a Canada Council Grant she seized the opportunity to relocate to NYC. In 1991 Jill became the resident pianist at Manhattan’s famed Harvard Club where she remained until 2017 opting to tour with Randy Brecker, Don Braden, Vincent Herring, and others. For her new outing “Gin,” Jill wrote the “Gin Suite” in three movements alongside some covers and other originals. Her guests include the aforementioned plus Ada Rovatti. A clear candidate for a top ten positioning of 2024 end-of-year albums.
