Spring is the time of renewal and when it comes to music,  it is the time for a continuous stream of fine new releases in a wide variety of music styles. We’ll begin with a new recording with Colorado connections despite it being led by UK drummer, Allan Finney who is fresh off a stint at Dazzle’s with B-3 player Tony Monaco. Allan who has played the Vail Jazz Party in the past teams up with some Front Range cats for Cool featuring Eric Gunnison on piano/keys, Mark Simon playing bass, Bob Rebholz on flute/sax, and Bill Kopper on guitar.

The legendary Cuban group, Buena Vista Social Club has a sizzling new CD, Lost and Found, a collection of previously unreleased material from the original studio recordings and a few live tracks. Many of the founders of B.V.S.C, have passed away so they won’t be at the Denver Botanical Gardens when they return to play on August 22nd, however they are present on this new recording. After 4 years GRAMMY® award winning bassist-composer returns with his newest effort, Coming of Age where he is accompanied by Christian Scott, vibraphonist Stefon Harris and pianist Christian Sands among others.

We’ll also debut new sounds by saxist Gregory Tardy in the classic jazz quintet, B-3 player Doug McClure leads the Central Washington University Jazz Band, vocalist Antoinette Montague is back with a gospel tinged outing and Harry Allen’s group  pay homage to 3 great composers, George, Cole and Duke. Tune in or log on beginning Monday at Noon for what promises to be an exciting hour of music on Lunchtime at the Oasis.
