Tune in Saturdays from 8 to 9 AM MT for New Orleans Calling, featuring the music, stories, sounds, and people of the Crescent City.

This program captures the rich musical heritage of  New Orleans – including jazz, Funk, R&B, Zydeco, Blues, and more – with the help of nationally recognized artists as well as locally beloved heroes.

Host and co-producer George Ingmire has investigated the many subcultures of New Orleans and the Caribbean for more than 20 years. And he has taught at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans.

George is also an accomplished sound recordist for films and television.

First episode premiering on KUVO January 9 at 8 AM: THE GRADUATES 

Music education in New Orleans is part of the fabric of the city, from early piano lessons to high school marching bands and musical summer camps to neighborhood brass.

One special place of education has become a breeding ground for the next generation of artists. Founded in 1973, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) has numerous notable graduates. 

This episode features NOCCA graduates Trombone Shorty, Wayne Shorter, and Jon Batiste.
