Smithsonian Award-winning pianist Omar Sosa and his Quarteto Afro-Cubano visit Colorado for two nights of performances at Dazzle on September 4 and 5.

Sosa is a 7-time Grammy-nominated pianist and recipient of the Smithsonian lifetime achievement award will be appearing with his primary touring band Quarteto AfroCubano. Omar Sosa fuses an array of jazz, world music, hip-hop, and electronic elements with his Afro-Cuban roots for an evening of music that will make you feel at ‘home.’

This debut engagement is in support of his acclaimed 2015 CD release, Ilé. “Ile” means home, or earth, in the Yoruba language of West Africa, and it is to the Latin Jazz roots of his native Cuba that Omar returns for inspiration on this project.  The CD offers contemporary interpretations of some of the classic Cuban musical styles the world has come to admire.

The band features noted Cuban drummer Raul Pineda, Cuban saxophonist Leandro Saint-Hill, and Mozambican electric bassist Childo Tomas.
