On Sunday, February 11, at 4 p.m., KUVO’s performance series “On Stage” features a musical Mardi Gras, with performance recordings spanning 17 years!

There is one band that gets credit for bringing New Orleans musical traditions into the modern age, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band!  They visited KUVO in 1999, and the eight piece ensemble laid down quite a sound!  The Fat City Mardi Gras Band brought their sousaphone, trad jazz and funk to KUVO in February 2014.  Gumbo Le Funque cranked up the audience with tambourines, singing and shouting in Feburary of 2015.  And “On Stage” host Susan Gatschet might even squeeze in some Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen or some Henry Butler into the mix as well.

You’ll be reaching for your beads and mint julep as you enjoy this radio party, played back for you as the sessions were broadcast LIVE in KUVO’s Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio.  That’s this Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.  “On Stage,” a KUVO exclusive!
