This Sunday, May 27, at 4 p.m., KUVO’s performance series “On Stage” features the United States Air Force Airmen of Note with featured vocalist Nnenna Freelon, recorded in 2017 in Alexandria, Va.

With multiple Grammy nominations and 12 recordings under her own name, Freelon’s voice work is just part of her creative breadth. She’s acted on stage and screen, and has produced her own musical theater work, “The Clothesline Muse.” The U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note carry on the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force dance bands from the 1940s. Its international reputation is further burnished by the Jazz Heritage Series, which has hosted a who’s who of superior jazz talent since 1990.

2018 marks the 11th season of the U.S. Airmen of Note’s Jazz Heritage Series radio broadcasts. Later this year, KUVO will carry Airmen of Note concerts with Peter Erskine and Marshall Gilkes. Don’t miss On Stage, Sundays at 4:00 p.m. only on KUVO Jazz.
