Organ Trio Soul Jazz by McGowan, Jenkins & Reid| Tuesdays in June

This special June series explores and celebrates the classic and contemporary soul-jazz repertoire of the great organ trios. Important and historic collaborations were forged in the 1960s between organists and guitarists, and several iconic guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and Pat Martino launched their recording careers in this format. This classic sound lived on through the acid jazz of the 1970s to the retro funk of the 90s.

Award-winning guitarist Sean McGowan will lead a trio featuring Jeff Jenkins on organ and Todd Reid on drums. Together, they will explore the great artistic collaborations between organists such as Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Baby Face Willette, Big John Patton, Don Patterson, Trudy Pitts, Jack McDuff, Groove Holmes, Mel Rhyne, with guitarists Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Ray Crawford, and George Benson.
