Nocturne is honored to welcome legendary trumpeter Bobby Shew to their stage on Thursday, December 6 for two sets. Bobby Shew learned the craft of jazz by playing on the big bands of Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, Terry Gibbs, Louie Bellson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Buddy Rich. He went on to be the lead trumpeter for the likes of Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Della Reese, Paul Anka, Robert Goulet, Connie Stevens, and others. Along the way, he has earned Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and The International Trumpet Guild as well as an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Elmhurst College in Illinois.

Joining Bobby on stage will be Ben Markley on piano, Ken Walker on bass, and Paul Romaine on drums.

Born and raised (and still living near) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bobby Shew learned the craft of jazz by playing on the big bands of Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, Terry Gibbs, Louie Bellson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Buddy Rich. Bobby also spent many years touring as lead trumpeter for Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Della Reese, Paul Anka, Robert Goulet, Connie Stevens, Vicky Carr, and Steve Allen.
