Saxophonist Rico Jones didn’t get serious about music until he started attending Denver School of the Arts, where he was inspired by his peers.

Now, Rico doesn’t go a day without playing his sax and others are noticing his dedication and skill. Rico was recently one of 32 high school students nationwide selected for 2015 Grammy Camp

“The purpose of music is to make a statement, whether it’s personal or whether it pertains to cultural things,” Rico said.

To celebrate 30 years on the air and invest in the future of jazz, KUVO interviewed 30 local musicians under the age of 30. These features will be released on-air and online June 29-October 31.
