We have a provocative blend of music to debut on this week’s edition of New Music Monday, a weekly feature of Lunchtime at the Oasis. So Cal’s Fred Randolph is a bassist-composer and arranger, he releases Song Without Singing that has a variety of styles in 10 originals and a cover of Sting’s King of Pain. Wayne Horvitz  plays piano, the Hammond and keyboards as well as writing and arranging, all of those skills are evident on Some Places are Forever Afternoon. Joining Wayne is Denver’s own Ron Miles on cornet. The album contains a dozen songs in tribute to different places that have been part of Horvitz’s travels.

Former Denver jazz club owner Vartan releases Scandal: Music of Vartan Tonoian were he assembles an impressive roster of guests and even gets the Moscow Symphony Orchestra to perform on 2 tracks. other new arrivals are by trombonist Nick Finzer leading his sextet on The Chase, Mitchel Forman Trio returns with Puzzle, we’ll share an auspicious debut by trumpeter and composer Jonathan Powell. His group is Nu Sangha (new blood) and the recording is Beacons of Light. Please tune in or log on commencing at Noon, MTN time every Monday.
