Singer–saxophonist Briana Harris plays the Modern Songbook LIVE from KUVO’s Bonfils – Stanton Performance Studio on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m.

Join saxophonist and vocalist Briana Harris on an exploration of some of the greatest songs of the past 50 years. Just like jazz musicians covered popular music in the Great American Songbook throughout the 20th century, Bri’s band takes the same lens to interpret the music of celebrated songwriters from the 1970s through today. The adventurous set will include well-known hits and deeper cuts from artists like Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Elliott Smith, Fiona Apple, and many more. Hear your favorite songs in a new light as the band builds a “Modern Songbook” for today’s jazz audiences. Playing with Briana Harris is Spencer Zweifel on piano, Matt Smiley on bass, and Brian Claxton on drums.

Briana Harris is a versatile creator with credits as a saxophonist, singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and composer. She is a performing member of The Burroughs, a Colorado-based original funk and soul band. Her credits include performances with The O’Jays, Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, and Annie Booth; recordings with the David Caffey Jazz Orchestra, the Spencer Zweifel Quintet, Socrates Garcia Latin Jazz Orchestra, and Art Deco. She has composed original music for Octave Records and KUNC Radio’s Colorado Edition program.
