Super Mega Bien has been known for doing things a little differently since opening their doors in 2018. Their cuisine is a blend of meals and cooking styles from Mexico, throughout Latin America, and over to Spain and Portugal. The outcome? A melting pot of Latin-fare. Their dining experience is unique too, drawing inspiration from the Chinese tradition of Dim-Sum where small plates are brought out to parties on table-side carts. They also offer family-style entrees meant for sharing. SMB’s menu was initially conceived by prior Chef and Owner Dana “Loca” Rodriguez who has  since stepped down from leadership along with partners Tony Maciag and Tabatha Knop. Chef Victor Mena, who has a long history working along side Chef Rodriguez, and his wife and sommelier, Jenn Mena-Wenstrom, have been carrying along the torch since January 2023. While main-stays like the Ropa Vieja, the Pork Wings and Arepas can always be enjoyed at SMB, Chef Victor has also added his own flair to the food.

Chef Mena draws inspiration from his roots in Mexico along with love for a diversity of food cultures to create new dishes. Their menu rotates biannually, following the change in seasons. Jenn Mena-Wenstrom manages the front of house duties and operations, ensuring their team is supported as their dining room dynamic follows a collaborative beat. At SMB, everyone works together to keep the community fed and things running smoothly.

Jenn Mena-Wenstrom joined us on The Morning Set for this week’s edition of Eats & Beats. Currently Chef Victor is working on adding his finishing touches to the Spring menu which will include more veggie-based dishes and sauces, overall lighter plates to enjoy. Jenn gave a glimpse into what Chef Victor is drawing inspiration from for this menu rollout and shared insights on how needs in the service industry have come to the forefront since the pandemic.
