We’re back this Wednesday with yet another program noting the centenary of the birth of trombonist J.J. Johnson (1/22/1924).

Last week’s show was all about J.J.’s recordings as a bandleader. This week it’s J.J. as a sideman. You’ll hear J.J. on recordings by Horace Silver, Steve Turre, Coleman Hawkins, and Milt Jackson plus as a co-leader in the company of Kai Winding, Al Grey, and Stan Getz.

If you enjoyed last week’s show you’re sure to like this week’s program just as much.

Tune in this Wednesday, January 31 at 8 p.m. for the Night Beat with your host Doug Crane.
