This week’s Vinyl Vault serves up a taste of Japan with Osamu Kitajima’s “Dragon King,” a 1981 release on Arista Records. The album is a fusion of American jazz and R&B with Japanese music. Kitajima plays guitar throughout the album, but also plays the koto, biwa, narimono and other traditional instruments. American musicians include Victor Feldman, Carlos Vega, James Gadson, Harvey Mason and others. Check out the Vinyl Vault as East meets West, Tuesday, May 21 at 8:30pm on KUVO Jazz.
