Vinyl Vault: “Dune” Sam Morrison 1978

This week’s Vinyl Vault will feature Miles Davis alum and saxman Sam Morrison with his 1978 album on Inner City Records, “Dune.” Morrison is joined by Michael Wolf, Buster Williams, Bill O’Connell and Ryo Kawasaki.

“Dune” is a recent acquisition for the Vinyl Vault. I was in L.A. a couple weeks ago and I went to the Amoeba Record Store in Hollywood. The place encompasses and entire city block! I spent over an hour there and barely scratched the surface. I wasn’t familiar with Sam Morrison, but considering the sidemen and the Inner City label – a short-lived imprint, but one with impeccable taste – I picked it up, sight unheard, and it’s a winner.
