Just in time for Halloween, the Vinyl Vault presents a bona fide creep show with Julian Priester’s “Love, Love.” It’s a 1974 album on ECM guaranteed to send shivers up your spine. The title track, encompassing all of side one, has a persistent, hypnotic groove in an unusual time signature to heighten the tension. Floating ghosts in the form of various soloists materialize, frolic about then vanish in the mist one after another. Some of those soloists include Bill O’Connell (late of Return to Forever), Hadley Caliman on various reeds, Priester himself and others. Rhythm provided by Eric Gravatt (late of Weather Report), Leon Chancler, Ron McClure and others. Get your creep on with the Vinyl Vault on Tuesday, October 30 at 8:30 on KUVO Jazz.
