This week on the Vinyl Vault, it’s an album entitled “One Night Stand: A Keyboard Event.” As the title implies, the focus is on keyboards, recorded live. The album features an all-star cast: Herbie Hancock, Kenny Barron, Sir Roland Hanna, George Duke, Ramsey Lewis, Eubie Blake, Bob James, Rodney Franklin and Charles Earland. Those are just the keyboard players. The sidemen include Ron Carter, Bobby Hutcherson, Arthur Blythe, Noel Pointer, Earl Klugh, Hubert Laws, Stanley Clarke and more. Despite the title, it was recorded on two separate nights in January 1981; one night in Los Angeles and the other in New York. It’s a double album, never released on CD, but you can hear the highlights on the Vinyl Vault with host Geoff Anderson on the Night Beat on  Tuesday, September 19 at 8:30 on KUVO.
