Vinyl Vault — Remembering Ramsey Lewis

We lost Ramsey Lewis on September 12, 2022. A beloved jazz star for years, Lewis recorded dozens of albums and had numerous hits. The Vinyl Vault remembers Ramsey Lewis with some tracks from two of his albums from the 1970s, Solar Wind from 1974 on Columbia and Back to the Roots on Cadet from 1971. Both feature Lewis primarily in a trio format with Cleveland Eaton on bass and Morris Jennings on the drums.

The albums feature a combination of band originals and covers of jazz standards and pop songs of the day. These are two of Lewis’ lesser-known albums, but they’re filled with dynamic, creative, and authentic playing.
