Vinyl Vault: Tales of a Courtesan

This week’s Vinyl Vault will feature a 1976 recording from the Toshiko Akiyoshi – Lew Tabackin Big Band entitled “Tales of a Courtesan.” This was the second album from the highly-acclaimed band led by the husband and wife team. As was typical during the band’s 30-year tenure, this album features intricate and inventive arrangements by Akiyoshi and top-flight playing by the entire band and especially by Tabackin on tenor sax and flute.
