WAR & Tower of Power with special guest Megan Burtt on Saturday, August 4 at Levitt Pavilion – Doors at 5pm | Show at 6pm | All Ages. This event is rain or shine. WAR and Tower of Power, two iconic bands that helped shape 70’s soul, will come together to co-headline for a night of incredible music.

WAR –The Multi-Platinum-Selling band, WAR, began in 1969 when these ‘kids’ had the nerve to carry the name WAR at a time when peace was the slogan in an anti-Vietnam America. “Our instruments and voices became our weapons of choice and the songs our ammunition. We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today” WAR, the original street band, was brought together by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein rock legend Eric Burdon.

Tower Of Power – Oakland based soul n funk band Tower of Power is on their 50th Anniversary tour! Since their beginning in 1968, Tower of Power has never stopped touring and recording. Always in demand, the band never fails to entertain and amaze their fans. Tower is truly blessed to have a dedicated following that often travels to see the band, and in many cases, fans will plan their vacation or work schedule around an appearance of T o P.  There are still 4 original founding members in the group and many of the other members have been with the group for over 10 years. They have just released their 50th Anniversary CD on Mack Avenue Records, “Soul Side of Town”. KUVO’s Funky Boom Box will have a 50th anniversary tribute show to Tower of Power on Friday, August 2nd, 10p til Midnight with host Rob Seligman and guest, Arturo Gómez.
