Join host Michael Wulfsohn on Christmas Eve night for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” on the Monday Night Beat, as we come back to Creed Taylor’s CTI label once more, to acknowledge the 79th birthday of pianist, arranger, and composer, Bob James. Born on Christmas Day, 1939, Bob got his first commercial success on the CTI label, beginning with his first ever album as a leader, fittingly entitled, “One.” Our 44-year journey back to 1974, gives us a snapshot of Bob James’s immense talent and creativity. Backing him up are superb players, including Bob’s close musical buddy, Grover Washington, Jr., as well as Randy Brecker, Thad Jones, Gary King, Steve Gadd, Ralph MacDonald, Idris Muhammad, and many others. Tune in Monday, Christmas Eve, at 8 pm for the next Monday Night Beat, on KUVO Jazz.
