Join me for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” tonight, on the Monday Night Beat, as we pay tribute to the life of Jimmy J.T. Trujillo, the former Host of The Monday Night Beat, who left us suddenly four years ago, on October 29, 2014. We know that Jimmy had a distinct fondness for jazz fusion and hard-core funk music. So, we’ll turn up the Funk, and listen to selections from one of Jimmy Trujillo’s favorite bassists, Stanley Clarke.

Maybe one reason that Jimmy was so fond of Stanley Clarke, could be that they both shared the same birthday! June 30, 1961, for Jimmy, and June 30, 1951, for Stanley. Tonight’s vinyl will include selections from two classic LP’s, “School Days,” released in 1976, and “Rocks, Pebbles, and Sand,” released in 1980, both on the CBS Epic label.

In addition, we’ll listen to a variety of other bassists who were influential to Jimmy J.T. Trujillo’s style, including Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, John Patitucci, and others.

Tune in with host Michael Wulfsohn at 8:00 tonight for the next Monday Night Beat, on KUVO Jazz.
