Join us next Monday night, December 3, for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” on the Monday Night Beat with host Michael Wulfsohn, as we celebrate the life of guitarist, Jim Hall. We’ll listen to his 20th album as a leader, and his third of four as a leader on Creed Taylor’s CTI label, entitled “Studio Trieste.”

Recorded in April 1982 by Rudy Van Gelder, and released in 1983, Jim Hall is joined by collaborators Chet Baker on trumpet and flugelhorn, and flutist Hubert Laws. Joining the trio on that date were Steve Gadd, Jorge Dalto, Kenny Barron, Gary King, George Mraz, and others. All arrangements of familiar jazz, Latin, and classical pieces by Don Sebesky, all of which give Jim, Chet, and Hubert some room to get warmed up and cookin’. This is one of the last albums on the CTI label until it’s short-lived reappearance in the mid-1990s.

Tune in Monday, December 3 at 8 pm for the next Monday Night Beat, on KUVO Jazz.
