“Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” is tonight, on the Monday Night Beat, celebrating the birthday and life of flutist and reed man, Joe Farrell. We’ll take a listen to his 5th album as a leader on Creed Taylor’s CTI label, entitled “Upon This Rock.” Recorded in late 1973, and early 1974, this album continues Joe’s brand of Jazz Funk Fusion he began with his 1972 CTI album “Moon Germs,” and highlights his exceptionally tasty technical and tonal skills as a flutist, and versatility as a funky saxophonist, as well.  In the studio with Joe on these dates were fellow funky guitarist Joe Beck, drummer Steve Gadd, pianist Herbie Hancock, and friends.  If you like funky ‘70s Fusion, then you’ll love this album! Tune in tonight at 8 pm for The Monday Night Beat, on KUVO Jazz.
