Royal Roost Revival | Fridays at Nocturne

Aug 4, 2018

This is the first volume of an original Nocturne series dedicated to sharing the prodigious art form of bebop. Curated by Colorado-based saxophonist / arranger / composer Wil Swindler, the series name is inspired by the iconic Royal Roost jazz club on New York's storied 52nd Street in the late 1940's where bebop was organically brought to life by musicians such as Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Tadd Dameron, Fats Navarro, Miles Davis and Max Roach.

Coração Brazilian Quartet | Thursdays at Nocturne

Jun 19, 2018

The Coração Brazilian Quartet is Eric Gunnison on piano, Bill Kopper on guitar, Bill McCrossen on bass, and Raoul Rossiter on drums and percussion.

The great Denver raised guitarist Bill Frisell performs on Wednesday with his trio, consisting of bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston. That trio plays the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St. in Boulder, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday (303-786-7030). Born in Baltimore in 1951, Frisell grew up in Denver and attended East High School. As the 1980s began, Frisell began his connection to the ECM label, releasing his first disc as a leader on ECM in 1983.

Acclaimed jazz pianist Keith Jarrett performed solo for a sold-out audience at the Köln Opera House on January 24th, 1975. The resulting inspired performance, recorded and released by ECM became both the best-selling solo jazz and solo piano albums in history.
