In the midst of the current coronavirus surge, there still are live sounds available around town. At Dazzle, in addition to streaming events, the club has the Ellament Quartet with Ella Gavlinski on piano on Thursday at 7 p.m., Sandra’s Friday Night Live with funk singer Jacob Larson, soul sounds from Teledonna on Tuesday and Vlady’s Angels on Wednesday. Vlady is pianist Vlad Girshevich and he, like the Angels led by saxophonist Laura Newman, makes up the band that is on stage at Herb’s on Wednesdays in more normal times.

Over at Nocturne, the Royal Roost Revival Bebop Quartet (with players such saxophonist Wil Swindler and pianist Ben Markley) is on stage at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, followed by Markley’s trio on Friday, drummer Brian Claxton’s quartet on Saturday and pianist Dana Landry’s group on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. with Claxton on drums. On Wednesday at Nocturne, it’s Brazilian sounds that will hit the room.

The basic starting time at Dazzle is 7 p.m. and the sets at Nocturne usually run at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. For both spots, you should check their websites for a number of details surrounding attendance.

There is also a list of performers at the Muse Performance Space in Lafayette and La Cour/Classic Pianos in Denver. At Muse, trumpeter Pete Olstad is on stage on Saturday at 7 p.m. with a quintet, while a band led by Daryl Gott and Taylor hits the stage on Tuesday. At La Cour/Classic Pianos, the lineup includes the Paleolithic String Quartet on Friday and singer Joni Janak on Thursday. Again, please check the websites for any schedule changes.

On the streaming side, trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis offers his “Double-Nickel Birthday Bash” (the trombonist turned 55 on July 28) in support of his Keep New Orleans Music Alive foundation. The Uptown Jazz Orchestra will be featured.

Moving up to Vail, there is Jazz in Park on Friday with Miguel Espinoza in a concert that seems filled, but you can check their website.
