During the final month of 2020, Dazzle hosts a “Bread and Jam” series that combines live-streamed music with material support, including free meals, for musicians on Sundays. While the players are streaming sounds from the club on Sunday, a food pantry and other services will be off-stage aiming to meet the non-musical needs of musicians during these most trying of times.

This Sunday the live-streamed music will come from the band Space Orphan that takes the stage at 7 p.m. Musicians can visit the pantry from 4 until 7 p.m. on Sunday. Prior to that, on Saturday from noon until 7 p.m., Dazzle is open for those who want to drop off food and other supplies. Trombonists Stafford Hunter and Adam Bartczak then provide the sounds on Saturday starting at 7 p.m.

In addition to the Sunday streaming inked to Bread and Jam, Dazzle also offers additional, on-stage live-streaming sounds throughout the week starting with the Cass Clayton Band on Friday, Mad Dog Blues on Monday, and After Midnight on Tuesday. All of those streaming shows are at 7 p.m.

At Nocturne this week on Saturday, bassist Seth Lewis celebrates the release of his new album “Go Your Own Way.” Trumpeter Shawn Williams, saxophonist Austin Cebukski, pianist Tom Amend, and drummer Brian Claxton join Lewis in the celebration. And at the Muse Performance Space in Lafayette, singer Rekha Ohal and guitarist Dave Devine join forces on Saturday at 7 p.m. for a concert streamed from the theater.

Also, keep in mind that the Grammy show is coming up at the end of January. The best solo nominees are trumpeter Christian Scott a Tunde Adjuah, violinist Regina Carter, pianist Gerald Clayton, pianist Chick Corea and saxophonist Joshua Redman.

On the best album side, there of discs from: trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire; drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and Social Science; Gerald Clayton; Chick Corea/Christian McBride/Brian Blade; and Joshua Redman/Brad Mehldau/Christian McBride/Brian Blade.
