KUVO Music Director and Lunchtime at the Oasis host Arturo Gómez received the 2015 JazzWeek Bobby Jackson Award for Music Director of the Year in the major market category.

This is the fourth time in his 12 years at KUVO that Arturo has won this prestigious honor.

Each year, JazzWeek magazine distributes awards in small, medium and major markets voted on by  jazz radio and recording industry professionals. Award were announced at the annual JazzWeek Conference held in San Jose, CA on Thursday, August 6.

Arturo has been part of “The Oasis in the City” since the spring of 2003. Before that, Arturo was part of Miami’s jazz station for 13 years.

Raised listening to the progressive radio stations of Los Angeles, a love and knowledge of diverse musical styles was instilled in Arturo at a young age. Arturo also credits the Cuban music dance parties his parents hosted during his growing up years for his deep love of music.

Arturo brings an enthusiastic and passionate approach to music programs, coupled with pertinent information in the traditions of classic jazz radio.

“Jazz is my favorite four-letter word and the world’s greatest art form,” Arturo said.

You can catch Arturo’s program, Lunchtime at the Oasis, every weekday from noon to 1 PM MT.

Please join us in congratulating Arturo!
