interview with Don Grusin

One of the annual offerings of the Conference on World Affairs is the jazz concert.  On Tuesday night, April 8, 2014, the players will crowd onto the stage at Macky Auditorium from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.  Don Grusin, Colorado native, CU graduate and professor, and jazz pianist visited “First Take with Lando and Chavis” with details of the concert and other CWA events.

“My brother (Dave) and (bassist) Abe Laboriel are on their way from Narita Airport.  We’re going to do a special tribute to celebrate… our friend Oscar Castro-Neves,” Grusin said.   Among the 15 musicians on stage are several from around the world: Derek Nash (London), Ricardo Silveira (Rio de Janiero), and Avi Agababa (Israel).

Colorado artists on stage include Bijox Barbosa, Brad Goode and Paul Romaine.  Some of the musicians will appear on other panels during the Conference as well, including Ernie Watts, Lillian Boutte, Charlie Bisharat and others.
