Back in 1969, Duke Ellington brought his orchestra and soloists to Montview to perform two sold-out performances of his Second Concert of Sacred Music. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic event, Montview is performing a new edition of Ellington’s Sacred Concert featuring the Montview Westminster Choir including several members who sang the original concerts in 1969, vocal soloists, and a big band featuring some of the finest jazz musicians from the Front Range. In 1969, the church reached out across the Denver Metro area to attract a large and racially diverse audience.

Featuring choir, big band and soloists, including gospel soprano JoFoKe and tap dancer David Sharpe, Westminster Choir will perform excerpts from Sacred Concerts with Minister of Music Adam Waite at the jazz piano.
