Featured performers at the 61st Monterey Jazz Festival, the Lamont Jazz Orchestra with Steve Wiest performs new jazz compositions by student performers.

The Lamont Jazz Orchestra tied with The University of Central Oklahoma on Sunday, March 11 to win FIRST PLACE at the prestigious Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival. Also honored were Matt Campbell (drums) and Dylan Vessel (trumpet) who were awarded outstanding soloist recognition (two out of the four that were awarded!) The judges were an all-star panel that included: Ingrid Jensen, Joel Frahm, Alan Ferber and Tanya Darby.
