KUVO’s High School & Collegiate Performance Series presents Soular Wave from Kent Denver on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. The band is under the direction of Justin Adams.

From Kent Denver: “Kent Denver’s Contemporary Music Program trains young musicians to explore the rich variety of cultures in American music. Our students learn roots, Latin, soul, R&B, folk, country, and jazz music through studying and playing regularly with seasoned professional musicians who we have as adjunct instructors (including Leo Corona, Alejandro Castaño, Olivia James, Ben Parrish, Mike Marlier, Bob Rebholz, Gabe Mervine, and Joe Anderies). We empower students to find their artistic self-expression and take leadership of bands through the following process – students name their bands, write out arrangements for their songs, and select their material. “Soular Wave” performs old-school soul tunes, modern hits, and jazz standards. These devoted youngsters will put on a great show that makes people feel good and want to move! The band won the Downbeat Award for Outstanding Performance by High School Pop/Rock Band in 2024, making it two years in a row!”

The 14 members of Soular Wave are Blaine Anderson (guitar), Jakoby Butler (organ, keys), Kenley Ellis (lead and background vocals), Aidan Hodges (violin), Zander Kim (drums/percussion), Brendan Lindberg(alto sax), Grayson McGuire Anderson (bass), Mitchell Milias (rhodes, keys) Zoey Monroe (lead and background vocals), Andrew Morgan (tenor sax), Braydon Nutter (guitar), Ruy Quintana (keys, synth), Talia Schanman (lead and background vocals), Lucas Zienkewicz (drums/percussion).
